We sang two services during the Christmas Vacation 2012-13. The first was on an evening service of Christmas music and readings on 12th December at Pembroke and the second was an Epiphany Carol Service at All Saints, Milton at 3pm on Sunday 6th January 2013. We enjoyed the time we then spent catching up socially at the White Horse, Milton. We enjoyed singing the music chosen for our somewhat curious “Thanksgiving for Summer” service in mid-September 2012. Music included Byrd, “Sing Joyfully”, Stainer, “How Beautiful on the Mountains”, Howells, “Like as the Hart” and Rutter, “For the Beauty of the Earth”. At least we had had some Summer by the time this event happened, although we still think that Elgar’s “As Torrents” was a suitable musical choice. At the very end of September we surprised ourselves by how well we sang on so little rehearsal for Pembroke’s first Sunday evensong of the new academic year, followed by a convivial evening at The Hopbine.
